Achieving Inner Peace

ACHIEVING INNER PEACE 1 DVD. Increasing God-likeness is, in the last analysis, nothing more than the growth in the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). In any Spirit-filled soul, love becomes incandescent, joy (even in suffering) becomes exhilarating, and peace becomes deeply benign. This Spirit-spawned peace, explored in this teaching, is not just a kind of inner peace often referred to as peace of mind, which is a psychological experience of serenity or emotional tranquility, attainable by a wide variety of mental training techniques. The peace flowing from the Spirit of Jesus is more properly referred to as peace of soul, far deeper than peace of mind. It is grace-triggered. Jesus describes it as special: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives” (John 14:27). This heavenly inner peace, by the Spirit’s guidance, blossoms into outer peace: peaceful relationships with others, such as spouses, family members, neighbors, co-workers, etc. with our cooperation with grace. “Make every effort,” says Paul, “to keep the ‘unity’ of the Spirit through the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:3). Learning to be open to both inner peace and its spin-off of conflict-free relationships is the intent of this talk.
