Make a Mass Stipend-Offering of $10.00 or more per Mass
The customary stipendary offering for a Mass is between $10.00 and $100.00. When requesting or petitioning for a Mass(es) to be offered for your intentions alone, it is important to keep in mind that a stipend is not a “payment” for the Mass(es). Rather, a Mass stipend is an offering to the priest by the petitioner as a “sacrifice”, by which a person seeks to share in the sacrifice the priest offersóthe Sacrifice of the Mass. It is customary for the petitioner to determine the amount of the stipend based on what they believe God is calling them to offer. Just as the widow offered her meager coin at the temple, the sacrifice of a $10 stipend may be more to one person than a $100 or $1000 stipend is to another. Old Testament priests (Levites) were supported, not by allotment of assets, but by ministering the altar sacrifice (see Josh. 13:14 and Deut. 10:9) and it is the same today. Your offering (stipend) goes to the support of the Claretian priests and missions worldwide.
